Direct investment openness index captures the ability to conduct investments for the purpose of establishing lasting economic relations both abroad by residents and domestically by non residents (for example, for the purpose of producing goods and services, and, to allow investor participation in the management of an enterprise). The index is the average of its two sub-components: direct investment inflow index and direct investment outflow index.
